A Fitting Guide: How a bra should look on your body
When you try on a new bra, take a look in the mirror alongside these pictures for Susan’s top tips on how and why only quality bras transform your figure with their specialist features that uplift your bust and lengthen your waist for a neater silhouette to create the perfect foundation:
|
 |
1 LIFT AND CENTRE YOUR BUST
When correctly fitted your bra and breasts should be in line with your rib cage (centring the breasts). Your breasts should be lifted to half way between your elbow and shoulder. All our bras have firm side shaping to centre the bust and create a neater, narrower silhouette.
|
2 A BAND OF SUPPORT
Ensure the wire fits behind your breast on to the rib cage and that the cup encloses the bust without bulging. A firm bra band is vital as this is where the bra does all its supportive work. Quality bras, by specialist bra companies, use sophisticated fabrics with higher tensile strength. All our bras go through a selection procedure to test band fit and support. In this way they will support you for longer.
|
3 THE SECRET OF UPLIFT
Ensure the band at the back is lower than at the front so the bra sits better on the body and tips the bust up. This means soft flesh on the back isn’t pushed up creating extra bulges. To test your bra fit, lift your arms above your head, a good fitting bra will NOT lift off the rib cage. If it does lift, first check the cup fit, you may need a bigger size – do the under arm check in point 2. If there is enough capacity in the cup do the thumbs up test below.
|
4 THUMBS UP FOR A FIRM FIT
Each bra should have some give for comfort. To ensure the fit is not too tight you should be able to put a thumb under the clasp and lift it up to an inch from the body. Any more and the bra is too loose and will ride up causing the straps to slip off your shoulders. Remember it is the bra band that does all the work to keep the bra in the most supportive position.

Why is there no DD Cup?
Prima Donna, Felina, Felina Conturelle, Anita and Lejaby bras do not have a 'DD' cup. In this case just move up a cup size. If you are a 'DD' cup choose an 'E' cup, if you are a 'E' cup move up to a 'F', 'F' to a 'G' and 'G' to an 'H'.
