What makes Italy a prime destination for vest-making and why do we choose it as a location for crafting our vest and merino top collections?
Bella di Notte vests are the perfect mix of Italian craftmanship and Yorkshire practicality! Italy has a long history of making merino vests and they have the specialist know-how and tubular knit machines that craft our seamless vests. The fine merino yarn suppliers are also based close to the factories that manufacture our vests in Biella in Northern Italy so the yarn can be locally sourced. Italy also has an abundance of fantastic lace suppliers. For these reasons Rosella vests are still manufactured with the same supplier we started with 27 years ago.
Why is merino wool the perfect choice for our vests and Bella tops?
Merino wool is fantastic for vests as it keeps you warm when the weather is cold and cools you when the weather is warm. It is also odour resistant and moisture wicking to keep you dry. The super fine merino that we use for our vests is also very durable and machine washable as well as being super soft against your skin. We blend silk with the merino yarn to add the special lustre to the vests and the tops.
Rosella is our signature vest range crafted in merino silk. It has a wide neck, so it is not visible under clothing and a beautiful stretch lace that sits perfectly. Matching briefs and leggings keep you warm on the coldest days.
Our Superior Cotton vests are made of a long staple pure cotton yarn that feels cool against your skin and are easy care. These vests are perfect for warmer months.
Our MicroModal vests are made from the pulp of beech trees, feel supersoft against the skin and are machine washable. They are also suitable to wear all year round and perfect to wear under jumpers to keep your jumper fresh and reducing the need to wash, which means your jumpers last for longer.
Carla & Verona are manufactured by knitting our merino silk yarn together with 100% long staple cotton yarn so that the cotton part is on the inside of the vest next to your skin. This is perfect for anyone who wants the warmth of merino but prefers the feel of cotton against the skin.
What do you enjoy most about working as a buyer at Bella di Notte?
What goes into updating our vest and Bella top designs to keep them evolving while staying true to our signature style?
Vests will always be at the heart of the Bella di Notte range, but it’s important to keep the styles fresh and up to date. New colours are crucial to give the range a contemporary look every year. We also add new styles to the ranges; this year we’ve added the Rosella short sleeve vest after many customer requests. In November we will also be introducing a new vest programme that is crafted from MicroModal with a stunning guipure lace - the perfect gift to wear all year round.
